Perhaps it is the nature of the season, but I am often consulted by former interns and working alumni.
I've been assigned to a department, but it's not the one I wanted.
I'm missing something for my future career.
I would like to get a reference so I can continue working overseas.
I've changed jobs several times and now I don't know how to move forward.
My boss is moody and sets hard goals for me.
I work from morning to night, commute to work, and can't think about anything else.
I have a lot of free time, and that's hard for me.
Yes, yes, and yes, I listen to their appeals as long as time permits.
If you can put into words, even if only coarsely, the confusion you have been carrying around for so long, you will be able to see a little clearing, and your wild, sideways feelings will probably lessen as you talk.
So advice is minimal, and only when asked for.
If there is a break in the conversation, just ask one more question after another.
